Less than two months after opening its doors, the new Pillar Health Racine Clinic is already exceeding expectations, performing 40% ahead of schedule and filling a critical gap in health care access for local families.
The clinic, which opened July 21, 2025, is the fifth Pillar Health location in Southeast Wisconsin. Located inside Julian Thomas Elementary School at 930 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. (Door #3), the Racine site is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), providing accessible, affordable, and comprehensive care. The clinic accepts all insurances and also offers a sliding fee discount program for patients without coverage.
“Our Racine clinic is already proving how vital this clinic is for the community,” said Dr. Mary Ouimet, CEO of Pillar Health. “We’ve been able to welcome patients at a rate 40% ahead of projections, often even accepting walk-ins. The response shows just how much this neighborhood has needed trusted, affordable care close to home.”
The Racine location is designed to bring integrated services into a neighborhood that has historically lacked health resources. Medical providers for both children and adults are available now, along with behavioral health counseling for adults and for children as young as 10 years old.
Additional pediatric resources were added just in time for back-to-school, ensuring students receive required physicals, immunizations, developmental screenings, preventive care, and sports evaluations. Providers can also complete school-required documentation for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, severe allergies, or a history of chickenpox in place of the Varicella vaccine. Oral health screenings and dental sealants will be made available to the students on scheduled days.
The clinic operates weekdays, with extended evening hours on Wednesdays and Fridays:
- Monday: 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The Racine site is within walking distance of the current and future Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, scheduled to open in 2026. Once complete, all Pillar Health services will transition there, with dental care added to the fully integrated medical and behavioral health services that have already been launched.
The Pillar Health Racine Clinic reflects a strong collaboration with the City of Racine Health Department, United Way of Racine County, and Racine Unified School District, aligning with the community school model to bring vital care directly to students and families.
