Introducing Faya Shiu, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Wisconsin and Illinois who brings compassion, experience, and a deeply human-centered approach to mental health care. At the KCHC 22nd Avenue Kenosha Clinic, Faya provides psychotherapy (talk therapy) to patients of all ages, with a special focus on trauma-informed therapy and helping individuals build resilience.
Faya was drawn to the field of behavioral health by a strong desire to help people understand themselves more deeply and find strength despite life’s hardships, especially those rooted in trauma. Her passion lies in guiding patients through healing, recovery, and personal growth, regardless of their circumstances or history.
Her therapeutic style is client-centered and grounded in real-world connection. Faya provides trauma therapy, including specialized care for first responders and military members. She also supports individuals navigating grief, parenting challenges, and major life transitions. Her approach focuses on creating a safe, open space where patients feel comfortable, heard, and supported. “My goal is to help patients feel truly heard and supported,” she shares. “I take a very real approach to therapy—blending professional insight with a human touch so that people can feel at ease and empowered.”
Patients can expect more than just support, they gain tools and insights that foster long-term growth and resilience. Sessions with Faya are designed to uncover inner strength and self-awareness. She also believes in the healing power of appropriate humor to help lighten the emotional load: “You might even laugh a little—because sometimes a shared moment of humor is exactly what we need to feel lighter.”
Faya earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Dominican University. She is licensed as a clinical social worker in both Wisconsin and Illinois and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and FLASH therapies, offering advanced, evidence-based techniques to support trauma recovery and emotional regulation.
