The 2025–2026 school year marked another successful year for Pillar Health’s southeast Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile program, expanding access to preventive atención dental para niños throughout Kenosha County while helping students build healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Throughout the school year, the Seal-A-Smile team visited 29 of the 30 schools served by the program, providing on-site preventive dental services and oral health education. The participating schools included eight Head Start programs y four middle schools, which were recently added to expand access to older students.
In total, 2,297 students enrolled in the program and received access to preventive oral health services delivered right at school, helping eliminate barriers such as transportation, missed work for parents, and time away from the classroom. Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile programs provide dental sealants, fluoride treatments, oral health assessments, education, and referrals at no cost to families.
Educating Students Beyond the Dental Chair
Every school visit included age-appropriate oral health education led by Pillar Health’s dental hygienists.
Students learned:
- The purpose and benefits of dental sealants in preventing cavities
- How sealants protect permanent molars, where most childhood cavities occur
- Why brushing at least twice a day is important
- The importance of flossing every evening to maintain healthy teeth and gums
Dental sealants remain one of the most effective ways to prevent tooth decay, reducing cavities in permanent back teeth by up to 80%.
A Dedicated Team Serving Kenosha County
This year’s Seal-A-Smile program was made possible through the dedication of:
- Lacie Dobyns, RDH – Dental Hygienist
- Connie Bevry, RDH – Dental Hygienist
- Crystal Wynn – Dental Assistant
- Elisabeth Rodriguez – Dental Assistant
Together, the team traveled throughout Kenosha County schools, bringing preventive dental care directly to students in a comfortable and familiar setting.
Strong Community Support
The program continues to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from participating schools.
School administrators and staff expressed appreciation for having preventive dental services available on campus and recognized the value of providing students with both oral health education and preventive care without requiring families to schedule separate dental appointments.
Looking Ahead
Building on the success of the 2025–2026 school year, Pillar Health will continue expanding access to school-based dental care during the upcoming school year by adding KTEC Schools of Innovation y Randall Consolidated School to the Seal-A-Smile program. The expansion reinforces Pillar Health’s commitment to ensuring more children across Kenosha County have access to quality preventive oral health services where they learn every day.
