According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/breast-cancer\/key-statistics.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sociedad Americana contra el C\u00e1ncer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, breast cancer accounts for approximately 1 in 3 new cancers diagnosed in women each year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For 2026, the American Cancer Society estimates:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>321,910 women<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>60,730 women<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a non-invasive form of breast cancer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approximately <\/span><b>42,140 women<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will die from breast cancer.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Men can develop breast cancer, too, although it is much less common.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For women in the United States, the average lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is approximately <\/span><b>13%, or about 1 in 8<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While these numbers demonstrate why continued awareness is so important, there has also been meaningful progress. Earlier detection, improvements in treatment and greater awareness have contributed to declining breast cancer death rates over the past several decades.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:20px;margin-bottom:0px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:var(--awb-color4);border-top-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><div class=\"vc_custom_1683730290311\">\n<div id=\"text-block-3\" class=\"mk-text-block\">\n<h5>Por qu\u00e9 es importante la detecci\u00f3n precoz<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breast cancer screening can help find cancer earlier, when it may be easier to treat. Significant racial disparities remain. According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/breast-cancer\/about\/how-common-is-breast-cancer.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sociedad Americana contra el C\u00e1ncer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Black women have a higher breast cancer death rate than White women, despite having a slightly lower overall incidence rate. Differences in stage at diagnosis and access to timely, high-quality care are among the factors associated with this disparity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expanding access to preventive care and helping patients understand when and how to be screened are important parts of improving breast cancer outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Pillar Health and KCHC, our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pillarhealthcare.org\/es\/servicios\/servicios-medicos\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical services<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> include routine health assessments, preventive care and ongoing primary care for patients throughout Southeast Wisconsin.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:var(--awb-color4);border-top-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><div class=\"vc_custom_1683730290311\">\n<div id=\"text-block-3\" class=\"mk-text-block\">\n<h5>When Should You Get a Mammogram?<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Screening recommendations can vary based on your age, personal medical history, family history and individual risk factors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/breast-cancer\/screening-tests-and-early-detection\/american-cancer-society-recommendations-for-the-early-detection-of-breast-cancer.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Cancer Society&#8217;s breast cancer screening guidelines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recommends:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Edades comprendidas entre 40 y 44 a\u00f1os:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Women should have the option to begin annual mammograms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Edades comprendidas entre 45 y 54 a\u00f1os:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Women should receive a mammogram every year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Age 55 and older:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Women can transition to mammograms every two years or continue annual screening.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Screening should continue as long as a woman is in good health and is expected to live at least 10 more years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Screening recommendations can vary slightly among medical organizations, therefore the best screening schedule is the one you and your healthcare provider determine is appropriate for <\/span><b>your individual health and risk factors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women at higher risk, including some women with a strong family history, certain inherited genetic changes such as BRCA1 or BRCA2, or previous high-dose radiation exposure to the chest, may need earlier or additional screening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talk with your healthcare provider about your personal and family history and whether you may need a different screening plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:var(--awb-color4);border-top-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4 fusion-text-no-margin\" style=\"--awb-margin-bottom:15px;\"><div class=\"vc_custom_1683730290311\">\n<div id=\"text-block-3\" class=\"mk-text-block\">\n<h5>Know What Is Normal for You<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Routine breast self-exams are no longer recommended as the only breast cancer screening method for women at average risk. However, it is still important to know how your breasts normally look and feel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/breast-cancer\/about\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CDC lists several possible warning signs of breast cancer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Contact your healthcare provider if you notice a change, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new lump in the breast or underarm<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swelling or thickening of part of the breast<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes in the size or shape of the breast<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dimpling or irritation of breast skin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nipple changes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nipple discharge other than breast milk<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Persistent breast or nipple pain<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many breast changes are caused by conditions other than cancer, but any new or concerning change should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
