For families across Kenosha County, protecting a child\u2019s smile can now be as convenient as sending them to school.<\/h4>\n
\n

Throughout the <\/span>2026-2027 school year, Pillar Health\u2019s Seal-A-Smile team will visit 32 schools throughout Kenosha County<\/b>, bringing preventive dental services, dental sealants and oral health education directly to students.<\/span><\/p>\n

The school-based program helps make important preventive dental care more accessible to children by providing services in a familiar, convenient environment during the school day. Seal-A-Smile is not a free program for all students. Services are provided at no cost only when the treatment is not a covered benefit under the student\u2019s insurance or when the student does not have insurance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

What Is Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile?<\/h5>\n

Wisconsin Seal-A-Smile is a school-based dental sealant program designed to improve access to preventive oral health care for children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through Pillar Health and Kenosha Community Health Center, the program brings trained dental professionals directly into participating schools throughout Kenosha County. This approach helps reduce barriers that can make accessing preventive dental care more difficult for some families, including transportation, scheduling and time away from work or school.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rather than waiting for children to develop painful dental problems, Seal-A-Smile focuses on <\/span>prevention and education<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

<\/i><\/i><\/span>How Do Dental Sealants Help Prevent Cavities?<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

Dental sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of permanent back teeth, or molars.<\/span><\/p>\n

The grooves in these teeth can easily trap food particles and bacteria and can be difficult for children to clean thoroughly with a toothbrush. Sealants create an added layer of protection over these vulnerable surfaces.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, <\/span>dental sealants can prevent 80% of cavities in the back teeth, where 9 in 10 cavities occur.<\/b><\/p>\n

Preventing cavities is about more than protecting a child\u2019s teeth. Oral health can affect a student\u2019s comfort, nutrition, concentration, school attendance and overall well-being.
